Me, Myself & I

Hello. Welcome to my presence on the internet.

My name is Andrei Marin, I am an amateur photographer and archery enthusiast, and in general you could call me a “Geek of all trades, but master of none”.

In my defense, this is what Robert Heinlein says about it (not to be taken too literally) :

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

What I understood from Robert’s words is to strive to learn new skills and not limit myself to one skill or field. That is why I like to keep that quote in mind when “accused” of knowing too little of too many things. I may not have a specialization yet, but I am knowledgeable in these three fields:

Science, Photography and Archery.

This website is a way for you to meet my creative side, so I hope you enjoy it.

My hobbies are:

  1. Photography
  2. Archery
  3. Traveling
  4. Music
  5. Bonsai Growing
  6. Electronics
  7. Hang Gliding
  8. Tea
  9. Poetry
  10. Romanian Culture

But my true passion is inventing/hacking.

That’s why the best years of my life (until now) were when I was around twelve – thirteen, and I developed a huge interest in science, which lead to me making dangerously strong scale catapults, a trebuchet, crossbows, bows and arrows, chloroform and numerous scary kabooms. Unsupervised.

It was a bit dangerous, but my parents had a surprising amount of trust in me, as long as I had properly documented myself on the dangers of the certain project I was attempting. And I did. I used to be a true bookworm…

So, from then on, I long to feel the spirit of invention, surging through me, awakening my mind.

This is how I define invention: The spirit of invention is a wild one, it does not fear failure, it craves adventure, thrives on inspiration; it is often misunderstood, yet perseveres trough the hardest of times, it accomplishes the impossible and elevates the human spirit to new heights, it’s parents are Art and  Creativity, it’s brothers: Perfection and Renewal.

The spirit of invention resides in us all, dare to release it!
